Saint Michael’s Singers and ESO with the late Vernon Handley in Worcester Cathedral

Saint Michael's Singers have built up a strong partnership with this fine orchestra, based in Worcestershire.

Since its formation in 1980 the orchestra has established for itself a leading reputation in performances of English music, but also has a broadly based repertoire extending across the range of classical composers. The orchestra has toured extensively throughout Europe and the USA and has performed with many of the world's leading artists. It has produced over fifty recordings, mostly released under the Nimbus label.

The choir and orchestra have been working regularly together for over ten years. Each season sees a number of joint concerts in Coventry Cathedral and the Midlands area, including annual performances of Messiah by Candlelight in venues around the region. Their interpretation of Messiah has been released as a double CD set.

The Saint Michael's Singers’ Conductor and Chairman are members of the orchestra’s Artistic Committee where they work closely with the ESO’s musicians in planning future programmes.
